Went to a recording of Radio 4’s Gardeners Question Time last night, at Wentworth Castle Gardens. Didn’t know what to expect, however it was slick professional and very entertaining, even my husband enjoyed it! AND my question was chosen for the panel to answer.
My question was ‘what is this mysterious algae that grows on a pathway on the farm?’
The answer – ‘It’s not algae its gelatinous lichen, nothing terrible and can be removed by covering with sand or sweeping away.’ More work for me then. At least they gave me and environmentally friendly solution!
The recording goes live on 13th May at 3.00pm and is repeated on Sunday at 2.00pm
I’m famous he he, that’s if they don’t edit me out!
Here is our second short film. Hope you enjoy!
Just thought I’d share this video with you all. It was done last year and sums up how our business works. Click on the link below to take you to the short but perfectly formed film.
Look at these yummy buns made with our very own culinary Lavender. Andrea Jones has made these scrummy delights (www.madewithpink.com) and has very kindly linked me into her blog. I’m going to try to make some of these this weekend, I’m sure my grandchildren will devour them. They love my lavender shortbread so I think these will be a real hit!
Somebody was asking me on my facebook page the other day if there really was such a thing as lavender shortbread. I cannot stress enough how fantastic lavender is to cook with. It’s great as a sweet or a savoury herb.
I’ve just been chatting to one of my fellow lavender lovers Vanessa Kimbell and felt I needed to share her latest adventure with you. She is writing a cook book which includes the most amazing recipes and she is going to dedicate a chapter to cooking with lavender.
Her book won’t be launched until the 2nd June. However, in the meantime take a look at her blog www.prepped.co.uk
There is already a lot of talk about this book. It’s going to be big! I’ll keep you posted, off to try one of the recipes she has asked me to trial lemon & lavender cake……ummmmmmm
We all seem to have survived the festivities and over indulgences, how about you? In a way it’s quite nice to get back to normal and there is a whole new year untouched. Back in the office and the orders are still rolling in. You are all amazing customers. Thank you all you Lavender lovers for your support
Let the lavender keep the winter blues away!
Here’s to 2011
and it’s sooooo cold!! Although its just started snowing its not sticking yet thank goodness. I am going to write a quick blog then nip out to the shops to get the essentials whilst I can, because once it does settle we are pretty much housebound up here.
On reflection it may do me some good not being able to leave the house for a while. I can start my much relied upon Christmas lists (I have lists for everything from presents to meal planners!), finish of my latest batch of lavender shortbread and make a few more lavender filled Christmas decorations which seem to be flying out at the moment.
Made a big batch of the Christmas spice bags last week. The smell in the work room was divine. The combination of lavender, cloves and cinnamon is just like mulled wine. I felt all Christmassy!
Two days to Bonfire Night and after that its Whizzzz, Christmas is here. We are going to change Pennine Lavender’s front page for the Christmas promotion next week. I always think its wrong to do it before the 5th November.
Already sold some of our Christmas products which is nice, and I must admit our Christmas spice bag which contains cinnamon & cloves as well as lavender smells gorgeous and reminds me of mulled wine. Ohh what a nice thought, could do with a glass now!
Can’t quite find the time to make parkin for Saturday when the family are round for fireworks, so am off to the shops to buy some. I’m always trying to think of new lavender ideas however unfeasible. What about lavender parkin……..????? No – I think I’ll stick to the lavender shortcake.
