Lavender Tips
Here are a few facts about the natural benefits of Lavender,
which most people assume are old wives tales. However, these
have now become tried and tested and really do work. Here
are just some of its uses:
Cuts & Wounds
benefit from its antiseptic and healing quality. Use
a drop of lavender essential
oil diluted in water to clean a wound, then drop
regularly until the wound is healed. The oil is not
astringent so will sooth any pain.
Burns
also benefit from essential oil. Apply neat to the
affected area immediately after injury, allowing the
oil to dry on the affected areas. The oil soothes
the pain and helps regenerate the damaged tissue.
This is now a practiced treatment in many burns units.
Insect Bites
can be treated with 1 neat drop of oil several times
daily until any swelling has subsided and the infection
has been destroyed. Lavender oil is also an insect
repellent and should be applied to any areas that
are likely to be bitten i.e. wrists and ankles (It
also smells a lot nicer than most high street insect
repellents).
